St Alkmund's Church is the official church of Shropshire Army Cadet Force. It stands in the centre of our county town of Shrewsbury. If you find yourself on Pride Hiil in Shrewsbury, walk 150m up Butcher Row and you'll see St Alkmund's. It's open all day every day. Feel free to go in and have a look round. It's a great space and it's there for you! There's usually some info. about the Cadets for visitors to see.
In November 2010 The Cadets did a Radio Shropshire broadcast for Remembrance Sunday, and we hold Banner Parade services there once or twice a year. It's the Cadet Centre for the Town Poppy Collection for the British Legion. Padre Richard Hayes is our Cadet Officiating Chaplain and he looks after St Alkmund's.
In 2012 St Alkmund's will be celebrating its 1100th anniversary. It was founded by a daughter of King Alfred in 912.
