SHROPSHIRE ARMY CADET FORCE TRUST

The Army Cadet Force (ACF) is a superb volunteer youth organisation, providing an excellent service to both nation and the individual cadet.

It is sponsored by the Army with the aim of providing challenging training and community activities for 12 to 18 year-olds. The progressive training programme gives the cadets the chance to develop their team work, practical leadership skills and their sense of citizenship.

Shropshire ACF comprises of about 500 cadets and 100+ dedicated volunteer officers and instructors, and a small permanent HQ staff. Buildings, insurance and military costs are met by the MOD and the Army assists with the military training. Today, the Army "Footprint" is much reduced, and there is an ever-increasing call on private funds to support the level and quality of training our cadets deserve. Sports coaches and officials, canoe instructors and mountain leaders, and non-military items of equipment are required if the increasing needs of cadets are to be met.

Typically the TRUST provides support for:

    Individual cadets specially selected for exchange visits to other national cadet forces such as those in Canada and India;

    Individual cadets attending personal development courses (Operational Raleigh, Tall Ships expeditions);

    Cadet participating in county training expeditions to the Pyrenees (2005 & 06);

    Subsidising fees for cadets joining the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme;

    Purchasing commercial Adventure Training packages for cadets at Annual Camp;

    Purchase of specialist equipment not available through service sources;

    Redecoration and enhancement of Detachment hut accommodation.

If you feel you would like to support the Trust in its work we would be delighted to hear from you. Any donation to the Shropshire ACF Trust would be greatly received and acknowledged. All monies raised are used for the direct benefit of Shropshire cadets - we have negligible administration costs.
