Shooting is one of the most sort after activities according to a survey carried out by the ACF Magazine, with 85% of cadets across the country saying they wished they did more shooting. Shropshire ACF are dedicated to delivering shooting at detachment level once a month and a large and vast amount of shooting at the weekends. In order to archive this there is an element of classroom based teaching, this includes hands-on experience and theory work. Once a cadet has shown he/she can handle the weapon they will take part in a weapons test, on completion of this they are deemed safe enough to fire the weapon on a live firing range.
Below is the all the weapon systems we fire in shropshire ACF
The Air Rifle is used to instruct a cadet in the basics of shooting and to build confidence and ability before advancing onto other weapons. |
The No8 (.22) rifle is the first weapon a cadet will
be allowed to fire that uses live ammunition. |
Once cadets have proved themselves to be
proficient with the No8 Rifle, they will be able to
train and fire the Cadet GP Rifle. |
Once cadets have proved themselves to be
proficient with the Cadet GP Rifle, they will be
able to train and fire the Light Support Weapon (LSW). |
When cadets have established the use of all
weapons and are more experienced in the
techniques of shooting they can progress on to
the Target Rifle. |
When a cadet is fully aware with the
techniques of shooting they can progress on to
the sport of Clay Target Shooting. |
