So what is expected of you?
• Aged from 12 (in year 8 only) to 18 Male and Female.
• You do not need to be extremely athletic or physically fit.
• We expect you to attend all the detachment training evenings.
• You are also expected to attend some weekend training events held throughout the year.
What you get in return?
• All uniforms are issued free of charge except boots.
• You can gain promotion throughout your service with the ACF.
• There are many courses available to cadets, including all types of Adventure Training, First Aid and Military Skills.
• You can gain important qualifications as a member of the ACF including for example a "BTec National Diploma" and a "Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award".
So what do you need to buy?
• A pair of army boots.
• A sleeping bag for outside.
Everything else will be issued to you from the detachment when you join, the equipment you require will be issued as and when you need it..
The cadet training and promotions.
The APC training syllabus comprises of 9 core subjects which the cadet works through to gain the different levels of star passes, at each level the training becomes more challenging. Safety is always the main priority with a focus on your ability to work under pressure, as part of a team and show leadership skills.
The core subjects of the APC Syllabus are:
Drill & Turnout, Skill at Arms, Shooting, Fieldcraft, First Aid, Map & Compass,
Cadet in the Community,
Physical Recreation and
Expeditions.
As you progress through the APC training program you will receive STAR GRADE BADGES as each stage is completed. The time scales are listed below as a guide only and should not be taken as exact as it very much depends on your attendance at parade evenings, Company and County weekend training and annual camps.
