So what is expected of you?
• Aged from 18 to 55 Male and Female.
• No former military service required.
• You do not need to be extremely athletic or physically fit.
• We are first and foremost a Voluntary Youth Organisation.
• We expect you to attend all the detachment training evenings for which you are not paid, except for travel costs if you live further than two miles away from the detachment.
• You are also expected to attend some weekend training events held throughout the year.
• The County also runs a 14 day annual camp in the summer, and would expect you to attend for at least one week.
What you get in return?
• All Adults Instructors may receive paid training days if they complete full days training during the year on official ACF activities.
• All uniforms are issued free of charge.
• Once you have completed the Adult Initial Training Course (AITC) you will assume the rank and pay scale of Sergeant.
• You can gain promotion throughout your service with the ACF.
• There are many courses available to adults, including all types of Adventure Training, First Aid and Military Skills.
• You can gain important qualifications as a member of the ACF including for example a "Masters Degree in Youth Manangement".
• If you have a specific interest or ability, you will be encouraged to use your skills as part of your role within the ACF.
Most adults join as senior non-commissioned officers with the opportunity of becoming commissioned officers (TA - Class B - non deployment).
